Bout of Books Day 4 update and Book Road Trip

Bout of Books

Day 4
Currently Reading: Will of the Empress
Pages/Percent Read: Will of the Empress- 21 pages
New Blogs Following: In Wonderland, Paradise of Pages
Mini-challenge: Book Road Trip @ In Wonderland
Cat update: The cat should be able to come home today. Hopefully she ate on her own last night, but even if she didn't she is supposed to come home. She had three days of fluid injections and force feedings and actually seemed pretty with it yesterday. Poor kitty! Update: She is home now, but not eating much and really weak.

Mini-challenge: Book Road Trip @ In Wonderland

For this challenge, Stephanie gave us the task  to come up with a list of the top 5-10 states/places you'd love to visit and find a book (you either read or want to read) that takes place in that state/place or a book by an author who lives or is from there.

I chose:

London: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by JK Rowling
South Carolina: Like Stephanie, Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl inspired this choice.
New York: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
California: Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan
Egypt: The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan
Georgia: Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins, Fallen by Lauren Kate
Massachusetts: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Pennsylvania: The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin by Benjamin Franklin

Thanks to Stephanie for hosting!

Bout of Books Day 2 update

Bout of Books
We go back to the vet today, so hopefully she has good news.

Today's mini-challenge is Re-Title It @ Music Plus Books. Laura gives us the challenge of giving a book you are currently reading a new title. You can also redesign the cover if you want to.

Hero (Woodcutter Sisters #2)
Harcourt Books

I am currently reading Hero and I love the cover. I like the title too, but if I had to re-title it I would call it Saturday's Quest or re-title it Enchanting to play on the title of the first in the series. Thanks to Laura for hosting!

Currently Reading: Hero, Will of the Empress
Pages/Percent read:Hero- 60 pages, Will of the Empress- 32 pages
Mini-challenge: Re-Title It @ Music Plus Books
New Blogs Following:Book Lady's Reviews, Angela's Anxious Life
I hope to comment on a few blogs today and find some new ones to follow. If everything goes ok today, I may try to do the Twitter chat tonight.

Bout of Books Day 1 update

 Bout of Books
Well I am up really early, because we had to force feed the cat again. I hope to take her to the vet today and see if they can give her an IV of fluids, because she is severely dehydrated. We have her asthma under control with the last doses of medicine, but she will not eat or drink. I hope to read some today, but my mood may not be great. Update: The vet is keeping her overnight and giving her fluids and an IV. We will know more tomorrow.

Currently reading: Hero by Althea Kontis, Will of the Empress
Pages/Percent read: Hero- 26 pages, Will of the Empress- 34 pages
Mini-challenge: Bookish Bucket List @ Sarah Says Read

Beat the Heat Readathon Wrap-up Post

Phantasmic Reads
My goal for this readathon was to read at least 500 pages and to finish Earthbound and one other book. I also wanted to find a couple of new blogs to follow and comment on a few posts. I did find a few new blogs and did comment on a couple of posts. I also finished Earthbound and Girl with the Iron Touch and with the extension, The Cuckoo's Calling and Once a Witch. I did two of Jessi's mini-challenges and attempted one of Reanna's. So not bad. My page total ended up being 1141, which is fantastic for me! I did pretty good considering I have been taking care of the sick cat. I am going to take her back to the vet today, since she is severely dehydrated. Hopefully they can give her an IV, but if she is too bad off, the news will not be good. :(
Hope you had a good readathon! Thanks to Jessi and Reanna for hosting!

Bout of Books 8.0 Goals post

Bout of Books

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 19th and runs through Sunday, August 25th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 8.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

My reading list:
Infinityglass by Myra McEntire
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
Will of the Empress by Tamora Pierce

eARCs
Hero by Althea Kontis
Chaos of Stars by Kiersten White
Risked by Margaret Peterson Haddix
Island of Fire by Lisa McMann

Rereads:
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by JK Rowling
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

My goal is to read 300 pages, find a few new blogs to follow, comment on 10 blogs, and do at least two mini-challenges. With a full work week and a very sick/possibly dying cat, I am going to keep my goals small, because I may not be in the mood to read at all. What is on your reading list?
