Hot Summer Reads Read-a-thon

This read-a-thon is hosted Patrick @ The Bookshelves and Jen @ YA Romantics. It runs from July 14-20 and is a no pressure read-a-thon. They also plan on having a few challenges, but the main focus will be reading. I seem to read more when I participate in read-a-thons and since July tends to be my slow month at work, I have signed up for several read-a-thons. For this one I am going to try to read at least 500 pages for the week. I have been jumping back and forth between books lately and I think I will do better with a page goal rather than a book goal.

My reading list: Coming soon!

High Summer Read-a-thon

The read-a-thon will start on Monday, 7/22 at 12:00am CST and finish on Sunday, 7/28 at 11:59pm CST and is hosted by Michelle @ The True Book Addict and Castle Macabre. Click here for the signup link. This is a no stress read-a-thon and you can read whatever you like. This is my first High Summer Read-a-thon, but I have participated in her other read-a-thons before.  I will be picking a reading list soon!

Once Upon a Read-a-thon Wrap-up

I only read about 130 pages, so I did not finish a book. I am close to finishing Opal, though. I did complete 4 mini-challenges and participated in the Twitter party. I am finally understanding a little bit about Twitter. This was really fun! Thanks again to Angela & Loretta at Reading Angels, Candace at Candace’s Book Blog and Lori at Pure Imagination for hosting!

Dizneeee's World of Books Mini-challenge

One of today's mini-challenges is hosted by Lisa at Dizneeee's World of Books. For her challenge, she wants to know your favorite genre, favorite book in this genre, and favorite character. My favorite genre is definitely YA fantasy, mainly paranormal/dystopian. My favorite book is Hourglass by Myra McEntire. My favorite character is Finley Jayne from The Steampunk Chronicles by Kady Cross.

Apocalypse Challenge hosted by Kristen at Better Read Than Dead

One of today's mini-challenges is hosted by Kristen at Better Read Than Dead.
Here is her challenge:
Mini-Challenge Time!!!

You're in a bookstore and you've just purchased 5 books you've been dying to read, when the apocalypse hits. (Zombie, Demons, Vampires, Dean Winchester vs. Sam Winchester (yes, I'm watching Supernatural reruns) I don't care what apocalypse). You've got one chance at survival, what 2 books do you take and what 3 other items do you take?

I would take the Bible and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, because I try to read the Bible every night and I could read the 6th HP book over and over again and not get tired of it.

I would also take a hair brush, my cell phone, and my car, because those are the things I would miss the most, after my family, other people and my cat, of course.  (If I could cheat I would say I would take a bag like Hermione's and fill it with everything, but I will keep it realistic. :) )

Fun challenge!

Cover2Cover Blog's mini-challenge

One of today's mini-challenges is hosted by Stephanie at Cover2Cover blog.

For her mini challenge she had you answer the following questions.
Infinityglass (Hourglass, #3)
Egmont Teen

1. Which book you are most excited to read in the coming year? It can be already released or coming soon.
Infinityglass by Myra McEntire is the one I am looking forward to the most. I loved the first two books and can't wait to find out what happens next. I hope it is from Lily's point of view! I also love the covers of this series.

2. Which book would you re-read if you had the time and weren't so busy reading ALL of the other good things?
Probably Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It is my favorite in the series and I do get around to rereading it quite often. I love the scenes with the Pensieve.

3. and lastly, If you could meet any fictional character who would it be and why?
I will pick a popular one here I am sure, but I think it would be fun to meet Hermione. I think she would be interesting and I would love to here more of the story from her point of view.

Thanks to Stephanie for hosting!
