"Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On" participation post

Well, I have only finished one book so far. I am reading more than usual, but I did not accomplish as much yesterday as I would have liked. I will get little reading accomplished today, but I am going to try to stick with my three book goal for the entire read-a-thon. I have met my other goals, so I am pleased about that. Hope everyone else is having a good time and reading plenty!

Book Spine Poetry hosted by Christine at Oh, Chrys

Today's challenge is Book Spine Poetry and is hosted by Christine at Oh, Chrys!
All you have to do is create a poem, spanning any topic or length using the titles on book spines. You then take a photo of them all stacked up and ready to read!
Here is mine:

American Colonies
Belles March
Martha Washington
Mrs. Lincoln
Team of Rivals
The Lost Hero
There I Grew Up
America's Hidden History

I am in a patriotic mood today, since it is Independence Day!

"Tears on My Pillow" participation post

I just finished Prodigy and that book pulled on my heart strings in many ways. The two main characters are grieving the loss of a brother, Day is searching frantically for his other brother, there is unrequited love, and a shocking secret all in one.
Prodigy (Legend, #2)
Putnam

My quote from this would be: "He is beauty, inside and out.
He is the silver lining in a world of darkness.
                                                  He is my light."

Page 99 Challenge Test hosted by Meagan at Reviewing Wonderland

Page992

This challenge is hosted by Meagan at  Reviewing Wonderland. For this challenge you read page 99 and post a brief synopsis and tell whether or not you would read the book based on that page. No spoilers either!

My book is Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard and everyone has probably already read this series or you may watch the TV show. This was recommended by many adults and teens, so I had to try it. It is more of a guilty pleasure type book.

Page 99 is the start of Chapter 9: Not Your Typical Student-Teacher Conference. Aria's father is taking her and her brother to school and asks if they are happy being back in America. We know that Mike is because he says, "America rocks because it has lacrosse."

There was not much to this page, so I don't think I would pick up the book based on the page, although the chapter heading is clever. I do like the sarcastic and fitting chapter headings in this book.

"Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee" participation post

Hmm, this is a tough question. I have several strong female characters that I have liked. I think I will choose Izzy Brannick from School Spirits by Rachel Hawkins. Izzy has the red hair characteristic of the Brannicks and is good looking even though she does not realize it. She is comfortable in black t-shirts and jeans. She is brave and loves her family, even through all the difficulties. She has a snarky sense of humor, but is good hearted. She also hunts supernaturals for a living and is mainly homeschooled, except for a short stint in high school, involving a ghost. She also loves the scent of freshly baked cookies. I think Bonnie Wright who played Ginny in the Harry Potter films would be a good fit. She has the look and the attitude.
